This is the beginning of our summer diary and below you will see sort of a record of what's going on who's here and who's not and some pictures that we take from time to time. I will probably dispense with this format as soon as I can figure out what might be more interesting for people to see.

Thursday the 24th of July:
As you can tell (for anyone that may have come to this site) I have not been keeping it up at all this summer. The summer has really been pretty quiet. The last 10 days or so have been very warm and we probably haven't had a decent rain in about a month. The music has been great and the little hiking and biking I've done have been fine. We gave our annual bar-bq this past Monday and it was terrific (see picture above).
Friday the 27th of June:
Sort of slow in updating but
it has really been sort of quiet here. Not boring because there has been plenty
of activity just perhaps a little quieter than usual because there are still a
lot of people that haven't come in yet and some of the regulars haven't been
here either. The music festival started last week and you really feel like
summer is here when you spend that first Sunday on the lawn socializing with
everyone and enjoying the great music. Have gone on several bike rides and
yesterday went on my first hike of the season with the Kaufmans (picture is Ann
at the lake), went to
Cathedral Lake. It
was a gorgeous day, like the past 10 days or so have been, and although it
seemed a little tougher than usual we had a really nice day.
Tuesday the 10th of June:
I arrived in Aspen on the 30th of May after a 2 day drive from Houston. Theba had gotten here about a week earlier just 3 days after her very successful back surgery. Our first days usually amount to fixing up, cleaning up, etc. so not a lot of activity. The most exciting news was Gary Rubins terrible bike accident. I'll skip all of the gory details but he was lucky to have lived through it and he ended up suffering with only (?) many cuts, scrapes, bruises and probably whip lash. He is currently pretty much confined to his home and is using a walker to get around. If you know Gary and would like to say hello his number is 970-963-9531. The Kasners arrived on Friday the 6th and left yesterday. Sandy's nephews son had his bar-mitzvah. We did manage a bike ride to Basalt as I mentioned above and that's been it so far as physical activity is concerned. We are leaving tomorrow for our annual pilgrimage to Denver where we stock up on stuff for the summer. More later.
